Chateau Maris winery highlighted by Journalist Peter Dean – The Buyer (British press) Making a carbon-neutral winery from cannabis sativa, that has been recognised as one of the most environmentally-friendly wineries in the world, is just one of the many achievements of Robert ‘Bertie’ Eden. The godfather of organic and biodynamic winemaking in the Languedoc, Eden is a British ex-pat whose 45 hectare domaine Château Maris has been making exciting terroir-driven wines since 1997. He is overseeing Invivo’s aims to become the largest supplier of organic grapes in France, as well as being one of the greatest advocates of the need for the wine industry to reduce its impact on the environment. Syrah offers a special texture in this rugged yet magnificent part of the country. As if it liquefied rocks and garrigue to squeeze essential oils, through its rich tannins with mineral tones. The whole remains elegant and well balanced.

Maris Le Zulu Vin de France If we are talking about gouglou wine, then it should be included in these recommendations. Produced by Château Maris, a goldsmith in the Minervois, this wine in the Vin de France appellation is a blend of Syrah, Grenache and Mourvèdre. Easy to drink but with character, this wine is unfiltered, without the addition of sulphite and aged in concrete vats. Served at 16 degrees, it’s delicious. ORGANIC. View the article
