Wine delivered to the United States by sailboat

Robert Eden, owner of Château Maris, exports his wine across the Atlantic on a Breton boat. On arrival, greater time savings than a container ship. And less C02.

He is setting sail again this Tuesday, April 12 in Saint Malo, heading to Port Elizabeth, in the state of New Jersey (United States). On board the “Grain-de-Sail”, a 24 m sailing boat, 10,000 bottles of wine, including those from the château Maris, one of the finest estates in the renowned La Livinière appellation, in Hérault. If the weather is favourable, the highly anticipated bottles will arrive much faster than if they had been loaded into a container. “Inevitably, the container ship goes faster at sea. The crossing can be done in 12 or 15 days, but loading in a large
French port and especially customs clearance on arrival in the United States takes a lot of time”, assures Robert Eden,

Viticulture at the service of the planet
