2020 Chateau Maris Minervois La Livinière La Touge

Based on 70% Syrah and 30% Grenache, the 2020 Syrah La Touge has a pretty, juicy, up-front, and medium-bodied style as well as classic Minervois elegance. With complex notes of mulberries, new leather, peppery garrigue, and dried flowers, it's drinking nicely today yet should easily evolve for 4-6 years. It's a hidden little gem of a Syrah from the Languedoc.

2019 Chateau Maris Grenache Gris Brama

All Grenache Gris, the 2019 Grenache Gris Brama is straight-up terrific, offering a rich, medium to full-bodied, fruit-loaded style as well as pure, clean aromatics of white peach, honeyed white flowers, brioche, and a kiss of background minerality. I love its purity, it has remarkable balance, and it is drinking spectacularly well today.

2019 Chateau Maris Minervois La Liviniere Les Planels

The 2019 Minervois La Livinière Les Planels reveals a deep ruby purple color as well as a beautiful nose of ripe berries (black raspberries, blackberries), peppery garrigue, violets, iron, and a touch of chalky minerality. This ripe, medium to full-bodied, seamless Syrah (there's a splash of Grenache) has silky tannins, remarkable purity, and outstanding length. It benefits from a short decant and is a brilliant Minervois that will evolve for a solid decade.

2020 Chateau Maris Minervois La Liviniere Les Amandiers

The 2020 Minervois La Livinière Les Amandiers is another remarkably pure, elegant, yet concentrated Syrah from this estate. Coming from a single parcel of vines surrounded by almond trees, its deep purple hue is followed by an incredible bouquet of pure blackberry and cassis-like fruit as well as liquid violets, cracked peppercorns, smoked game, and hints of bacon fat. Full-bodied on the palate, it has a touch of background oak, a seamless, layered mouthfeel, ripe tannins, and a gorgeous finish. It reminds me of a great Côte Rôtie and will shine for a solid decade. It needs an hour or so in a decanter if drinking any time soon.
